We treat it that way — not with promises, but with architecture.
Separated identities
Your mentor never learns who you are. You never learn who they are. All communication runs through Authiq.
What your mentor sees
Your research topic, your method, your brief, and your drafts. Never your name, institution, email, or country.
What you see
Your mentor's expertise, approach, experience and plan. Never their name, employer or contact details.
Why it matters
It protects your privacy, protects your mentor's professional position, and keeps the working relationship inside a structure where quality is actually reviewed.
This isn't a policy we ask you to trust. Identities are separated at the database level; there is no screen anywhere in the system that shows a mentor a client's identity, because we never wrote one. Every attempt to reach data is checked against permissions before anything is returned, and every access is logged.
How your documents are protected
Stored outside the public web
Your files are not in a folder that a web browser can reach. There is no URL that serves them directly — guessing one returns nothing.
Stored under meaningless names
On disk, your manuscript is a random identifier with no hint of your name, your topic, or its real filename.
Every download is checked
Files are served only through a gate that verifies who you are and whether you have a right to that specific document. The default answer is no.
Released only when we approve
Work your mentor uploads is held until we've reviewed it. Nothing reaches you automatically.
Never rendered in your browser
Documents always download rather than display, which closes off a whole category of attack.
Every access logged
Successful and refused access alike. If something ever went wrong, we could show you exactly what happened.
Mediated communication
There is no direct channel between you and your mentor. You message Authiq; your mentor messages Authiq. We pass on what should be passed on.
That might sound like friction. It's the point. It means no one can pressure anyone privately, quality gets reviewed before it reaches you, and neither side can be pulled outside a structure that protects them both.
Notifications that reveal nothing
When something needs your attention, we email you that something is waiting — never what it is. No manuscript content, no message text, no names.
Email is not a secure place. Your research stays inside your account, where permissions apply.
What confidentiality does not mean
We're being straight with you about the limits, because a confidentiality promise with hidden exceptions is worthless.
Authiq staff can see your work
We review quality and mediate the relationship, so our administrators can see your research and your identity. They are bound by confidentiality obligations. Your mentor still cannot.
We may be legally compelled
If a court or regulator lawfully requires disclosure, we must comply. We'd tell you where we lawfully can.
Publication is public
Once your paper is published under your name, your authorship is public. That's the goal — but it means the confidentiality of the engagement, not of your finished work.
